Enhancing Processing Efficiency at LKPP LCSB Lepar Mill, Pahang: Insights from Our Technical Assessment

Overview of the Joint Technical Review

On 22 October 2025, Novel Dynamics carried out a collaborative technical assessment with the operations team at LKPP LCSB Lepar Mill, Pahang. With the mill operating at 60 MT per hour, the visit focused on reviewing sterilization consistency, steam utilisation practices, and the overall production workflow to identify areas where operational performance could be improved.

Highlights of Operational Observations

During the walkthrough, both teams examined the sterilization station, condensate handling system, and kernel recovery line. Several factors were found to influence efficiency. The existing FFB cage design limited effective steam penetration, causing uneven fruit conditioning and a higher incidence of unstripped bunches. Steam pressure instability during the sterilization cycle contributed to inconsistent cooking results and unnecessary steam losses. In the kernel recovery section, semi-manual separation processes led to variable performance, often dependent on operator adjustments. These findings highlight notable opportunities to enhance process stability, throughput, and downstream product quality.

Novel HEMS Interventions for Improving Efficiency

Novel Dynamics introduced how the Novel HEMS technology platform can address these operational challenges. The redesigned HEMS FFB Cages improve steam distribution throughout the bunches, supporting more uniform sterilization results. The HEMS Sterilization Management System stabilises pressure levels across each cycle, improving cooking consistency and reducing steam wastage. Meanwhile, the HEMS BPR Steam Balanced Management module enhances overall steam distribution, leading to smoother mill operation. The Automated Depericarper System further strengthens kernel processing by delivering more accurate and stable separation, reducing nut breakage and improving recovery quality. Together, these solutions help boost mill efficiency, energy management, and production reliability.

The assessment underscored the potential for LKPP LCSB Lepar Mill to elevate operational performance by focusing on key upgrades in sterilization control, steam management, and kernel recovery processes. Both teams wrapped up the visit with a shared understanding of the optimisation initiatives that can improve productivity, lower operating costs, and support long-term sustainability.
